Cowboys for kids dinner

The first meal hit the spot- we had a big home cooked meal with "all the fixins" and dessert too.
Cowboys for kids are a huge supporter of camp not only with their huge fundraising they have for us but all year round. Every year they provide dinner for us one night and it was delicious!
Thank you cowboys!

We're here!

We made it! All three buses pulled into county lake where we then headed to the cafeteria for pictures and introductions!
We all already feel at home and we've been here for an hour- we have group picture and dinner coming up soon!
This day is so exciting as a whole, everyone is making new friends and seeing old ones.

Coming together

Day by day camp is coming together more and more- with less than two weeks until we depart I'm already impatient. This past Saturday we had our companion training and a special thanks to Gilda's club for hosting!
We started the morning with bagels and a nice breaker which I love! It brings us all together!
We will have a make up training for those who missed on June 21!
We have a lot of new people joining us this year- companions and staff and I'm so excited for them all to experience this week and see for themselves how amazing these kids are.
12 days and counting....

The countdown has started!

A Facebook post today made me realize that Camp is only 46 days away!!! I cannot believe another year has gone by and here we are approaching our 26th year of camp, it warms my heart it truly does. All the hard work and fundraising is worth it all for those 6 days and 5 nights!

But remember, to those parents and family reading have you filled out your camper application? I think I mentioned in a previous post, ages are now 5-17 for campers so we can help even more amazing tiny humans!
Applications are simple, their available online on our website!

And any companions out there, we are always in need of male companions so spread the word!!!

I CANT WAIT!

Thunder over CQ at Adkins!

Hi again, this past weekend as most I'm sure noticed was Thunder Over Louisville. The start of the Derby festival is always something to be happy about and with the weather we had this past Saturday how could you not have a smile on your face!!
Thanks to Nurse Abby and her husband and Adkins Machinery in Louisville, CQ was able to come out and have a safe place to watch the fireworks as a part of their thunder fundraiser they put on for us! This event is getting bigger and higher each year; bounce houses for the kids, music, a silent auction and not to mention the corn hole tournament!
Everyone really enjoyed themselves and we had a huge number of campers and their families attend!

we were able to raise some money for my favorite group of kids in the world!

Have I mentioned that camp is only 68 days away :)
Be sure to go and follow Camp Quality ky on Facebook and Twitter to keep up with all future events this derby festival !

Where have I been?!

Where have I been blog world, and where has the time gone. It's crazy that in just a little ove two months the best week of the year will be here once agin, and this year with a Superhero theme!
We're starting to go into full preparation mode for camp Quality 2014 and I couldn't be more excited about it. The past few weeks have been lots of projects in the works.

A few weekends ago we launched a new event called Preview, and it was just that; a preview for camp 2014. We teamed up with Gilda's club of Louisville, and introduced everyone to camp 2014. The best part for me was the new faces and names I got to meet! There were lots of kiddos and siblings and families at the event all nervously excited for camp this year! It went really well and like I said i met a lot of new faces who I can't wait to see come June 22nd!  I didn't get many pictures, I honestly didn't even think about it at the time :(

Now that spring is in the air, I'll be back much more often prepping for camp! And don't forget that cancer and companion applications are available on our website!
Can't wait for this!

National Meeting !

This past weekend was also the time of year, when all Camp Quality's from around the country come together for the yearly national meeting! Each camp sends a group to go to the conference and learn about each other, and how other camps function!

I was so honored to be able to go, and have the chance to learn more about the internal workings of the camp I love so much!
We left Friday morning after our fundraising breakfast and headed to Monroe, Louisiana!
Being the small town girl that I am, I am not used to air planes and got a little woosey on the connecting flight, but other than that it was a smooth flight!

We got there and spent the weekend there with some of my favorite ladies :)
We were in meetings all day Saturday so we really didn't have a chance to do any tourist activities, but for those of you who know Monroe is where the show Duck Dynasty is filmed!

We made a quick trip to the "warehourse" and picked up a few souviners, but didnt get to see any of the cast :( but we did snag a few pictures!

We need a bus like this for Camp Quality dont ya think!
I had so much fun, and even more I was able to take away some learning tools from other Camp's!
